Day Zero / Book 4
The After
When the explosions fade, the struggle to keep civilization alive begins.
Washington has been destroyed, and the old political order has fractured. Across the world, survivors discover how much of ordinary life depended on systems that no longer work. Fuel and medicine stop moving. Hospitals run out of supplies. Crowded shelters fill with people searching for food, water, and safety.
At sea, surviving military fleets still possess equipment, discipline, and functioning command structures. As the cities on land struggle to hold together, these crews must decide how to use what remains. The After follows the first stage of postwar survival, when the central challenge shifts from enduring the strikes to rebuilding the routes, services, and trust that make a society possible.
