Day Zero / Book 6
Epidemic
As medicine disappears, treatment becomes the most contested resource in the postwar world.
Months after the nuclear strikes, hospitals are still standing, but many can no longer treat the people arriving at their doors. Antibiotics, insulin, anesthetics, and sterile supplies are running out. Routine illnesses become emergencies, and doctors must decide who receives the last available dose.
Survivors begin rebuilding drug production wherever electricity, clean water, and technical knowledge can be secured. China supplies antibiotics and essential ingredients, while a Western coalition protects factories, ports, and medical routes. Then Russia strikes a cruise ship converted into a floating pharmaceutical plant. Epidemic follows a world trying to restore healthcare while the facilities and shipments that sustain it become targets in a continuing struggle for power.
